Stuffed with Small Things
John Piper, author and Theologian, says that “If you don't feel strong desires for the glory of God, it is not because you have drunk deeply and are satisfied. It is because you have nibbled so long at the table of the world. Your soul is stuffed with small things, and there is no room for the great."
When I read statements like this I have to stop and ask of myself: what has captivated my heart? Is it God? Or, is it this world? Have I nibbled so long at the table of the world that my life is too full for God?
G.K. Beale, author and theologian, wrote “at the core of our beings we are imaging creatures. It is not possible to be neutral on this issue: we either reflect the Creator or something in creation”.
Commit today to being more devoted to God:
- Increase your worship attendance. A part-time Christian cannot defeat a full-time devil.
- Get involved in what God is doing through His church.
- Set aside time for unhurried prayer and Bible study.
- Share your faith through words and actions.
Christ gave too much for us to be okay with giving so little. Will you commit to serving God today? Maybe you are only worshiping part-time. Or you have un-repented sin in your heart that is stopping Him from blessing you. It is His desire to bless you and reward you.
